Brick Garage Demolition

This was certainly a solid construction and well built. Most garage builds are of single wall construction so a fair bit easier once the roof is off but these are a little more of a test. Although we can use machinery to help dismantle the garage wall structure there is a lot of awkward heavy lifting to clear the immediate area which can only be completed manually. All of the debris in this brick garage demolition had to be placed in a wheelbarrow to get it to the truck. The nice weather helped though!

Concrete Base

As for virtually all brick constructed garages they have a concrete sub-structure and floor area supporting the build. None of them like to come up easy so thankfully we have some heavy duty persuasive machinery and more than one pair of hands to help with the task. On this build we had to be especially careful as there was a fragile concrete slab built garage next to ours.

Obviously we had to ensure the walls came in the right way in a tight space to ensure we only removed the garage we were paid for! Again on this garage demolition, the customer wanted us to completely remove the garage and base so it was nice to leave it competed with top soil for their next project. The swift clearance of waste materials was the key to this concrete block garage demolition. Always a bonus when you also own a waste clearance company.

Brick Garage Demolition – Images

The images above provide a nice insight into how the brick garage with a concrete base was constructed and installed by the original builder.

I guess, what we don’t mention often as we just do it as common practice is remove any services within the garage prior to a garage demolition. At the survey stage we will discuss the best way forward with the customer and whether services are to be isolated completely as the site is being cleared or if a new structure is to be constructed on the old garage site.

What the images don’t show is the brick by brick dismantling of the double thickness wall next to the adjoining concrete slab garage. Obviously we had to avoid any damage to this so a slightly more delicate approach was used to avoid any unnecessary damage.

It’s always nice when a garage demolition project is at the front of the site to help with clearing the debris. In this case, everything had to be moved with a wheelbarrow as the driveway would not allow access for even a small truck.

This sort of brickwork garage demolition is bread and butter work for us and we love it.
